Hi Katie! It’s great to have you back. How have your first few weeks been?
Thank you! It’s been a baptism of fire, in a good way! I’ve loved being a part of the Cardiff team and chatting with our clients again. Having worked for Safehands previously it’s been great to reconnect with everyone. I know the staff and service here are second to none, so it was an easy choice to make.
What have you been up to?
Well, these first two months have flown by! We’ve been out and about seeing existing and past clients, managing the temp staff rotas and recruiting more staff within the Safehands branch itself. We’ve also started working with some great new clients and supporting extra shifts week on week.
Tell us about the team in Cardiff.
I moved back to Safehands in April 2024 and I have a strong background in healthcare recruitment and business development. One of my favourite parts of recruitment is seeing a worker get their first shift and getting good feedback. This makes my day!
Elly Wilton-Jones is our Senior Consultant and Compliance Officer and has been with Safehands for 5 years on 8th July 2024! She is a compliance master and has been a backbone and sounding board for me, she’s an invaluable support and makes us stand out as a truly compliant agency.
Annie Symes is our Administrator and Resourcer. She was a carer with us 10 years ago and has run her own care support business so knows the healthcare industry incredibly well. She is exceptional at recruiting great care staff for our team.
Ainsley Symes is our on-call consultant and as a previous carer also has in-depth knowledge of the healthcare industry. As we’re a 24/7 business she is on hand to take calls for last-minute, emergency shifts, so she is incredibly organised and personable.
Georgina Lovatt is a Recruitment Consultant and she manages our social contracts. It’s a busy job which includes the day-to-day running of the services and she is a font of knowledge on all things regarding council healthcare settings.
Gary McCarthy is our trainer and he has over 38 years of healthcare experience! A fantastic in-house resource, he specialises in delivering a comprehensive range of healthcare training courses, both to our workers and external businesses to ensure they are up-to-date with the latest training and can provide first-class care.
Rhys Jones heads up the permanent recruitment division for Safehands and specialises in recruiting permanent roles from leadership to office positions, plus care and domestic staff within the healthcare sector.
Chan Singh has worked in the care industry since 2016, managing general and specialist nurses and healthcare support workers. He heads up the Nursing Division at Safehands Recruitment and provides our clients with a quality service based on transparency and an in-depth knowledge of the nursing sector.
What locations do you support?
We support Cardiff, Swansea and surrounding areas and have just launched in the Tenby area in Pembrokeshire too. We are currently recruiting workers in all areas, especially Tenby. We’re getting out and about in the local area to deliver information to local businesses and to recruit new staff, which is especially lovely in this amazing weather!
What are the plans for the Cardiff branch in the coming months?
I’m excited about where this new journey and our new locations will take us. I’m confident that over the next few months, we’ll become more prominent across Wales in the supply of quality, compliant and fully trained healthcare staff, both permanent and temporary. We already provide staff across every sector of care, including Children’s and Adult Services, Mental Health, Elderly and CSE and will be supporting even more specialisms thanks to our dedicated Nursing and Permanent Divisions. It’s exciting to be able to say yes to all areas now, thanks to the experience and knowledge of our recruitment team.
What can people expect from Cardiff?
Excellent service, a friendly person at the end of the phone and more of doing what we do best – providing compliant, highly trained, passionate, reliable staff and supporting healthcare services with shifts, whether planned or last minute.
What would you say are the top 5 benefits of the Cardiff branch?
It’s hard to pick, but I’d say honesty, consistency, the same high standard of training with all staff, flexibility of shifts and 24/7 support for your business. We also offer a free first shadow shift to new clients so you can see how good our service and staff are. There we go, that’s six!
