Staffing support in homeless hostels

At Safehands Recruitment, we provide year-round support for individuals in homeless hostels through partnerships with local councils. Our skilled relief workers offer essential help and care, working with people from diverse backgrounds. This includes individuals who have served prison time for serious offences, those who have faced personal hardships such as job and housing loss, and some who are battling substance misuse.

Our team’s primary mission is to support each person on their journey to rehabilitation. By helping them rebuild critical life skills, encouraging personal accountability, and preparing them for reintegration into society, our relief workers empower individuals to regain independence and self-sufficiency.

Currently, the Winter Project is underway in Cardiff, offering shelter for homeless individuals during the colder months. Each winter, Cardiff Council opens additional accommodation, striving to get as many people as possible off the streets. Last year, a record 170 people benefited from this project, and this year we aim to reach even more. Our new relief workers have recently completed intensive training sessions, which included interactive exercises and roleplays, to prepare them for this vital initiative.

Georgina Lovatt, Account Manager at Safehands Recruitment, shares, “We’re proud to be part of such a meaningful project year after year and this initiative by Cardiff Council is incredible. Many relief workers start with us on a temporary basis but find the work so fulfilling that they become permanent staff. The career growth here is exceptional, with many of our team members moving into managerial roles.”

Once the Winter Project concludes, our relief workers continue their crucial support at various locations, sustaining the rehabilitation journey for those in need.
